Castelsardo

Ancient and beautiful center of north-Sardinia, Castelsardo is one of the most extraordinary examples of medieval village, still extremely parish priest and intact in native its structure, in its streets that climb on the hill, to reach the top, occupied actually from the stately castle.
Its name dates back to the middle of the XVIII century, when it replaced that of Castell'Aragonese imposed him after the Spanish conquest of the island.
Its origins macaws dark even however ancient: it was in fact the powerful Genoese family of the Dorias to found her around 1000 yearses needle, baptizing giving the name "Castelgenovese".

No doubt: the historical center of Castelsardo is the most interesting and characteristic part of the whole village. In fact, its ancient heart preserves practically intact all the old buildings, including marvellous churches and the extraordinary castle, built right the really watch on top of the hill from which it is possible to look at a wide view of the coastal line.
Observing it from differents points, the castle it always emanates an unchanged charm, taking back the visitor to the times when his ancient rulers used it as abode and centre of command.
The mighty boundaries practically made this extraordinary work of the impregnable human talent: the game architectures brought in fact to also exploit the costonis of rock of the hill adapting even the windows to it.
Today the fortress of Castelsardo hosts entertains the "Museum of the interlacement", devoted to all of this that the wise hands of the artisans of Sardinia have learned to build only weaving the humble stems that the nature provides.


If you decide to come do not miss Castelsardo and visit its attraction, you'll have the opoortunity able to see both to interesting handicroft, and its preserved castle from witch you can have tauching view the top of the show that the nature has put in scene of the northern coast of Sardinia.
